Optimalway is a company specialized in technology for sports federation management, market leader in Spain with presence in multiple regional basketball federations. My collaboration with them has evolved from scalable AWS infrastructure design to becoming their trusted technology partner for cloud architecture and performance optimization.

Throughout this ongoing technical relationship, I’ve worked on diverse challenges: from implementing auto-scaling systems that grow and shrink automatically based on demand, to deep database optimizations and exhaustive performance analysis in complex production environments.

Scalable and Autonomous AWS Infrastructure Design

The first major project was designing and implementing a fully automated AWS architecture for PHP and Java applications managing regional sports competitions. The goal was clear: create an infrastructure that could grow or shrink based on demand without requiring manual intervention.

Exhaustive Resource Consumption Analysis

To make informed decisions about resource optimization, we performed deep analysis of actual memory consumption on application servers. Standard monitoring tools don’t always provide the necessary precision when understanding how processes with shared memory consume real resources.

We implemented specialized analysis correctly distinguishing between private and shared memory, revealing actual per-process consumption and enabling:

• Optimal PHP-FPM and Tomcat process pool configuration.
• Correct AWS instance sizing.
• Identification of memory optimization opportunities.
• Accurate capacity projections.
